Product Description
ARTIFACT:
This is a beautiful and scarce circa early 1940's stewardess wing 2nd issue, Type I for Western Air Lines. Western began in 1926 as Western Air Express and merged with Transcontinental to become TWA in 1930. At this time, a portion of the company called Western Air Transport broke away, eventually becoming General Airlines and later WAL (then simply Western Airlines). The wing is in sterling silver with an “Indian head” logo bearing an orange, red and yellow enameled headdress.
VINTAGE:
Circa early 1940's.
SIZE:
Approximately 5/8” in height and 2-1/16” in width.
CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS:
Sterling silver, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:
Horizontal pin with come-under locking swivel catch.
MARKINGS:
STERLING.
