Maker
: This wonderful Beatrix Potter figurine from the coveted English ceramics firm Beswick is “Mrs Rabbit" from the 1902 book “The Tale of Peter Rabbit".
On the base is the early gold oval Beswick BP2a backstamp.
The character's name appears in quotation marks along with an attribution to F. Warne & Co Ltd.
Design
: The finely detailed rabbit is wearing a pink dress, shawl and bonnet and is carrying a green umbrella and a wicker basket. This is the rare "umbrella out" variation of this figurine.
Size
: The figurine is 3 7/8 inches tall and weighs 2.6 ounces.
Condition
: It has no marks, nicks, cracks, scratches, stains or repairs. The tip of one ear feels rough and there is crazing throughout; it's visible in the photos. There is a small chip at the bottom of the umbrella - that's shown in the photos with the red arrow.
